Skin Camouflage

These are special creams, available in different colours, which are used to conceal unsightly areas of your skin. An example of this is pale patches of skin caused by vitiligo.

The different colours match different skin types, e.g. fair skinned, dark skinned etc. The idea is that the cream covers the affected area and blends in with the rest of your natural skin colour. There should not be any difference between the camouflage cream and your natural skin.

These creams are waterproof and can be applied to the face and body. They last for 12 to 18 hours when applied to the face but several days on the body. Some creams are similar to a sunscream in that they have a sun protection factor (SPF) rating.

Your GP or dermatologist will advise you about using these creams. They are available on prescription only.
